Atlas Shrugged

Ayn Rand writes her characters in one dimensional ways, but gets her point across of how certain viewpoints can be dangerous. I really liked the ideas behind the story.

This trilogy is dark and amazing. Follow the girl with the dragon tattoo as she takes her revenge, and uses her unique talent to solve a mystery.
If you haven't seen the movies, I suggest the Swedish versions.

I don't often read non-fiction, but this ended up in my reading pile, and I'm happy it did. A true life hero who survives to tell the tale and share the heroism of his comrades.
And also a surprise about Ross Perot and his dedication to veterans (one of my favorite people).
Jurassic Park

A great adventure with a mix of technology. Better than the movie, of course. The second book is just as exciting and way better than the movie.
Mara, Daughter of the Nile

When I was a kid, I was wandering through the library and picked this off of the shelf. I never knew how amazing a story could be until I read this. A young girl playing double spy? I read it over and over. Definitely a win.

You're a traveler in outer space and you've come across a giant sphere. Time to explore and find out how much trouble you can get into! This is my favorite Arthur C. Clarke novel.
Snake Ropes

A truly imaginative world where things are never as they seem. If you like magical, mythical stories, definitely read Snake Ropes.
Survival: Species Imperative

My favorite Sci-fi series. I love how the main character is a true biologist, seeing everything in terms of biology. Meanwhile, she solves several strange puzzles, like why are worlds dissolving?
Turn Right at Machu Picchu

A fantastic non-fiction. It was great to read this before visiting Machu Picchu. It also gave me more insight into the other ruins my friend and I visited throughout Peru.

My favorite graphic novel. Great plot, great writing, and amazing characters. We'd all like to be a superhero, but maybe not these super human super heroes.
