Or experiment with natural food dyes like boiled beet water. Allergies shouldn't be an issue, but careful the drops can come fast!

I bet there are a couple moms or older sisters with some chunky glitter for their nails. Don't put very much of the heavier glitter. Check out the craft stores for more options. We had Valentine's themed glitter, but this project transcends any holiday. Make a rainbow of bottles to decorate the classroom! Very calming.

At $0.045/oz It is fairly cheap. Order online for pickup at the store. You can designate another who will pick the item(s) up. Have the students figure how many ounces or ml they'll need. Make sure to leave room for the water. You may need several gallons for an entire class.

36 tablets should be enough for one class. Offered online, but go ahead and hit the store yourself. I even found the comparable generic brand at Smith's.
